Introduction
The Ruta del Sol from Cusco to Puno or vice versa, offers a fascinating experience that combines history, culture and nature in a single trip. Along the way, you can explore archaeological and cultural sites, admire the beautiful landscapes of the Andes, and immerse yourself in the rich Andean culture.
Itinerary
Breakfast at the hotel. 6.30 to 6:40 am pick up from the hotel, and then transfer to the bus station. From there, you will take a trip from Cusco to Puno or vice versa. During our tour we will visit: Andahuaylillas: This is generally the first point of interest on the route. Here is the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, known as the "Sistine Chapel of America" due to its frescoes and colonial works of art.
Raqchi: The archaeological site is known for its Inca temple dedicated to the god Wiracocha. The huge adobe walls and columns are impressive.
La Raya: This is one of the highest points on the route, located at an altitude of approximately 4,335 meters above sea level. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Lunch in San Pedo: This town often serves as a resting place along the way and offers an opportunity to try local cuisine.
Pukara: Here is the Lithic Museum, which exhibits pre-Inca sculptures and ceramics. It is a good place to learn about the history of the region.
Finally, arrival in Puno and transfer to the hotel of your choice. Accommodation in Puno.
